TGA-FTIR "sees the chemistry" of what evaporates as the sample loses mass. This could be residual solvent, monomer or other depolymerization products, or additives.

The transfer line and the gas cell of the FTIR are heated to prevent condensation.

For one reference, instruments from two different companies were combined. The FTIR took a spectrum every second.
